Happy Halloween

My mom and I set up the house Saturday night for our spooky Halloween dinner on Sunday. We might have gotten a little into it. We even pulled out my mom's fog machine and strobe light. I love doing fun tables settings with my mom because she has an endless supply of decorations and an incredible collection of plates and tables clothes. Making a haunted table was so fun. We did two different settings. The smaller table was for the kids and the larger was fun the adults. We had skull rings on the napkins and other fun things like wax lips and fake fingers. It was a wonderful dinner.

This is Mikes amazing pumpkin he made with the kids. If you can't tell he is throwing up. Very creative use of the pumpkin guts.
Kate already blogged about our costumes but i thought I needed to include at least one picture. We were characters from Candy Land. Kate is Queen Frostine Mike is Mr. Mint and I am Princess Lolly. We had to pull it together really fast but we were happy with our last minute costumes.

Great Find

Target My Love

I was at Target yesterday doing some serious grocery shopping and I decided to walk down through the home sections. I always love the cute stuff Target has so I couldn't help but browse. Then I came upon these mercury glass votives for 99 cents!!! Seriously. I couldn't pass them up. When we were looking for ones for our wedding you had to buy them in bulk and they were still not much cheaper than 2 dollars each. I was super excited when I found them. They have them in both silver and gold. I am excited to use them around the holiday season! I also took advantage of my mother's beautiful yard and picked some hydrangeas before the snow gets them. I love having fresh flowers in our house.

Inspired by Tape

Entry Way

I didn't think to take before pictures with this project before i had already started painting the trim. So I'm sorry I didn't have a better before picture with all the dark trim, but I hope it's enough to help you see how ugly it was before.

I saw this idea on Caitlin Creer Interiors and thought it would be so fun in out entry way. I love wallpaper but obviously since this house is going to get knocked down in a few years I am not going to put the time or money into wallpapering. This was a fun alternative that added a little character along with a fresh coat of grey paint. I hope you guys like the fun details.

Project Runway

So Long Michael
( Not my Husband)
I could not be more thrilled that Michael finally got kicked off of Project Runway. I could never understand why Michael Kores loved him so much and why they thought his draping was "amazing". Hello all he did was gather a piece of fabric to some cording. Then he decided to really go out with a band. His reaction just solidified my reasons for not likeing him. He reacted like a 3 year old who fell off their bike. I mean Tim literally had to coddle him. I'm not going to lie I am super curouis about his story now since he has a son, was married and is now gay.
Anyway bring on fashion week and please give me this dress. I love Mondo

Master Bedroom

Extreme Home Makeover Continued

Please look at the beautiful cardboard window and the assortment of duck tape all over the top of the window.

You can also see a little peak into the bathroom. This is my next huge project after Halloween is over.
We decided to flip the bed over onto the other side so that Mike and I would both have access to either side. We painted the walls a pale yellow. The room was so dark before. Mike called it the dungeon. We wanted a color that would brighten it up. Then we painted all the trim and floor boards white. Mike put in the chair rail for me( With hardly any tools. I was super impressed).

This is the side of the room that i haven't done much with at all. I still have a lot of work to do but it took so much time to do the kitchen that this room didn't have as much attention. I plan on doing a really fun picture wall where our painting is from Shauna. I also need to figure out the empty wall behind the TV. We had plywood put in to fill the empty window and i covered it with fabric and put some of my jewelry on it. I will eventually switch it out for a better fabric and get more of my stuff on there, but for now it works really well as a display board/ storage.

I plan on working a lot more on this room later on but for now it has been a huge improvement. I will post more pictures of the projects I work on for that room as I get them accomplished.

A is for Apple

Our Fall Harvest

This is the view into our front yard
near our apple trees.
I may not be tall enough to reach most of the apples so
I ended up standing on the chair most of the time

This is probably about a 6th of the Apples in our yard. There are so many. I'm not exactly sure what to do with them. This will probably result in some serious creativity.

A Little Change

Welcome to Our Home
Igna and Martha are both present in the kitchen...of course.

This is the wall i am still trying to figure out what to do with. If anyone has any ideas please send them my way.

That is the new frig that we are so excited about. Thanks Mom and Dad!

So I finally got around to posting the After pictures of our Kitchen. This is what Mike and I spent the majority of our time doing when we first got married. The house was a mess and the kitchen was so awful. I couldn't even think about cooking in it. So we tried to improve it the best we could without spending a lot of money on it( that's why the nasty counters are still the same). We painting all the wood white and the walls blue to match our newly upholstered kitchen chairs. Mike and I found this table at DI and put a little love into it with some paint and new fabric. We pulled up the carpet and painted the floor. We painted a chalk board on our new pantry door( Mike turned the broom closet into a pantry for me) and we turned one of the cupboards into a book shelf for all my cookbooks. Mike fixed the big whole in the corner and put in two shelves for me above our stove and microwave. I covered the weird whole in the corner with fabric and made a skirt around the desk so that we could use underneath it for more storage. It was a really long process and only one of the rooms we have worked on but it was time that I shared our big summer project. If anyone has been to the Wakefield house before they know what kind of a project it was. I at least feel like we can have meals there now which is a huge improvement.

Jaynie Girl

My Niece is Prettier Than Yours
And More Precious
And Just so Freaking Cute
I Miss Her

Hiking Timp

Mike just chillin at the top. We left at 5:30 in the morning so we were all pretty tired
The mountain goats that were everywhere up there.
Mt mom and I at the top of Timp

Starting our journey in the morning. Ignore our tired eyes

Why yes we did slide down the glacier
The most amazing wild flowers were up near the lake. Don't you just love Kwa

This is another post I should have done a long time ago but I figure better late than never. So here are some fun pictures from our hike up Timp with some of our extended family.

More Wedding

I Just thought I would post a few pictures of our head table from the wedding. It was one of my favorite features and I love how it turned out. I haven't blogged all week since I have been so busy with painting and my job and birthdays. Our frig broke this week so we are waiting for our new one to come on Tuesday and then I will finally post the pictures of our house. For now though I am taking out Josephine's braids and that is an all night task .

When I grow up...

It's actually happening. My dream of working on weddings has magically fallen into my lap. A mother of a bride saw my wedding on Martha Stewart and saw the link to my cousins website and since she knew that they were family she e-mailed them in hopes to get a hold of me. Long story short I am helping with her Daughter's wedding in LA next month. I am thrilled and excited and I think this may be the big push for me to start a company. My dad called me a few weeks back and told me I should do event planning. I thought about it and knew that I wanted to but life got crazy and I just put it off and then it was pretty much meant to be with Rachel and Dorothy e-mailing me. I will give updates on our projects and the wedding. Thank you Rachel for considering me!
